Are you looking for the BEST burger in Charlotte NC? Let’s chat about the original two-handed sandwich: the American hamburger. It’s an institution for all ages. Pickles, ketchup, lettuce, cheese… BACON…. mushrooms… even coleslaw and chili, the Carolina favorite. The list goes on! My favorite fixings are CKMLTP, but occasionally I will hanker for a straight up bacon, cheese, mustard and pickle. Do you have special or unusual topping favorites? When I’m looking for the BEST burger in Charlotte, NC, I get my fix at these amazing burger joints:
- Mr. K’s, South End: A staple in the Charlotte area since 1967, for burgers, all beef hot dogs, fries and soft serve ice cream, when I really want a good burger, I stop in and scarf one down, usually with a chocolate shake. Limited seating, so be warned! 2107 South Blvd Charlotte NC
- Pinky’s Westside Grill, Morehead: Another one of those tasty dives that serves incredible fare. Look for the funky car on top of the restaurant. Hungry for a darn good burger and pimento cheese waffle fries, then plan your stop here! 1600 Morehead St, Charlotte NC 28208
- Cowbell Burger & Whiskey Bar, Uptown: You had me at whiskey…seriously this place has the tastiest turkey burgers I’ve tried. I’m not in Uptown often, but when I am, I plan to stop in here for a bite. Everything’s better with “More cowbell!” 201 N Tryon St, Ste 1001 Charlotte NC
- Heist Brewery, NoDa: There are a few breweries that really hit the spot with beverages, and even fewer that offer amazing food. Heist is a great casual dining joint that has it all–delicious juciy burgers, great beer and good times! 2909 N Davidson St, Ste 2002 Charlotte NC 28205
- Moo & Brew, Elizabeth/Plaza Midwood: You can’t talk about great burgers in 28205 without mentioning this great eatery. Short on table space, but long on ambience, people of all kinds flock here. My favorite? The truffle fries. 1300 Central Ave Charlotte, NC 28205
- Mac’s Speed Shop, South End: As much as I love the burgers and BBQ here, this listing could easily top the best Mac and cheese in aTri-State area. The perfect accompaniment to a juicy bacon burger is the cheesy side. I love the gritty, biker vibe, but don’t be fooled. You’ll find bankers sporting their blues sitting beside black leather clad mechanics at this eatery. 2511 South Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203
- Barristers, Gastonia: Perfectly cooked beef, caramelized onions, and greens, Barrister’s does an upscale burger at lunch that really satisfies. If you find yourself in my neck of the woods, do stop in, and don’t forget to swig down a craft cocktail while you’re here! 168 West Main Avenue, Gastonia, North Carolina 28052
- Mayworth’s Public House, Cramerton: A great little gem tucked away by the river, Mayworth’s offers great food and a friendly atmosphere. I’m a big fan of the waffle fries, and salads, too! 115 Center St. Cramerton, NC 28032
- Little Big Burger, Highland Creek-Huntersville-LKN: Multiple locations around the Lake Norman area, these little babies pack the taste in a tiny brioche bun. My favorite has to be the turkey burger with brie and cranberry catsup, though! Holiday on a bun! Multiple locations.
- Groovy Beast Grill, Gastonia: A darn good burger. Dill pickle chips. Ice cold soda. This out of the way joint, craftily hidden at the end of a gas station convenience store offers some delicious diner-style fare. Not to be outdone at breakfast, either! It’s a foodie’s “hole in the wall” that everyone secretly loves. Don’t miss it! 109 E Hudson Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28054
